In the forum, a discussion has started asking the same question, "Do Men Belong in Dyke Porn? " It's not an easy question to answer. My first instinct is to think, no, men do not belong in dyke porn. If there's anywhere in the world that men don't belong, surely, it is dyke porn.
I am fairly conscious of male privilage and I tend to notice the public display of differences between men and women. Even the little things stand out: in a room full of women, when a man is speaking the room tends to fall silent to listen, in print ads the older, wiser, gentleman is seen standing tall over the women, presumably teaching her something, and even space is taken up differently by a man. I think I'm conscious of these things because I resemble a man to some people, but upon closer interaction I'm clearly a woman. This has put me in a grey zone and I notice things that other people might not notice. |

This month I'll be putting up two solo scenes one after the other. But, they're very different from each other. They both feature beautiful women touching themselves and getting off the way they love to get off: half performance, half exposé. This website implies that there are "dykes" to see here. Of course, that's true and often I'll interview the models and ask them about how they feel about the word dyke and if they identify as dyke or something else. Many identify as bisexual, transgender, and queer is a favorite all-encompassing label, but some people self-identify as dyke. What role does a person's sexual orientation play in creating content that's considered "real lesbian porn"? Is a solo scene less lesbian if she's married to a man? Is the scene less lesbian if she's wearing fake nails? Is there anything about a solo scene that makes it lesbian? How about the simple fact that I was the one filming them? Would the scene have been different if a man was filming it? I think it would have. Also, I think the intention shines through. These scenes were created for Good Dyke Porn. With that fact in mind, something unique is created. It's subtle, but you will know it when you see it. Most people feel confident that what makes the mainstream "lesbian porn" bad is the women have big hair, big boobs and long finger nails that are dangerously close to the clit, but not close enough. But can "real lesbian porn" feature women with slim bodies, big hair and long finger nails? The beauty of Good Dyke Porn™ is that everyone who gets what good dyke porn means gets to be in it. Besides, the femme dykes (no matter what size) are the one of the yummiest parts of the queer community. All things considered, sexuality does play an important role in everything featured on this site. It doesn't matter what kind of relationships you have with men (partnership, lovers, friends, male self-identification). It's the relationships you have with women that matters. It's the real female bonds that "we" all experience. Even if you've never (yet) had a relationship with a woman but the word "dyke" resonates with you, then you know what I'm talking about. |

This is still a new site and the world is beginning to know Good Dyke Porn slowly but surely. More and more the site is growing. The membership base is growing slowly but surely. The affiliate links are increasing slowly but surely. The new scene updates are being added slowly but surely. WAIT! Slowly adding new scenes? That doesn't sound right. Isn't internet porn supposed to be all about instant access and frequent updates? We're here to get you instant access, yes, but as you can see "frequent" doesn't exactly define our update schedule. You will see a new and unique scene every month and we'll try to get even more than that up, but... We are an independent company and we're doing the best we can. Really truly. My focus is on the content and satisfying our customers. It's important to me to create something worth watching, to create a site that's going to make a difference in the porn industry and to my community in general. I'm planning on sticking around for a long time and if there are a few weeks without any updates in my first year online, then I'm not going to stress myself out about it. Step by step we will be building Good Dyke Porn into something everyone can be proud of. Already, I am extremely proud of what we've accomplished. And there is so much more that will be coming your way in the future. In this great race of independent porno success, between the tortoise and the hare, I am the tortoise. I am at peace with that. I will cross the finish line strong... eventually. |

This week's scene is a hot one - in more ways than one. It was shot on an August day in the woods of West Coast Canada. The sun was blistering hot and we needed to capture a fine balance between applying sunscreen and making sure not to get a mouthful of the stuff while having sex. All the footage that is being released to the website right now was shot months ago. It worked out that way, mostly because of money and availability, but it's kind of nice to see some hot summer shots when the winter is feeling a little too cold. Watch another scorcher by Eddie Bull and Aya Ruckus coming soon. |

Here is the official step-by-step program on how to become a pornographer. Follow it precisely for the result of fame and fortune. Not really. Actually, it’s a very personal description of how I came to be a pornographer. 1. Be an artist: People who go to film school and play with their video cameras in an artistic way like to call themselves filmmakers. I am a filmmaker. I wrote papers on films. I made 10 minute shorts at the instruction of “real” filmmakers. It’s a passion. It’s my creative outlet. I love creating films. But, I never got into the film industry. The job aspect of being “in film” didn’t appeal to me. All I wanted to do was make artistic personal short films and maybe do some writing. But, how could I possibly live doing that? My love of creative independent films lead me to ask the question: How can I make an artistic short film that people will want to watch over and over. Answer: porn. |

Aya Ruckus and Eddie Bull told me that they always wanted to play with cake with each other. The idea of eating a luscious, sweet and creamy cake, feeding, teasing and playing was, well, appetizing. After filming them smearing the custard cake from a gourmet bakery all over each other, whenever I watch this scene, I smell cake. The image conjures up the sweet sting in my nose. I didn’t eat much of it that day. I think I managed a bite of a custard ball, but they left the thing fairly mangled. |

I had such an amazing time on Saturday at the launch party. I felt so loved and supported by my friends and the community. We had a good turn-out despite the pouring rain. The energy of room felt really positive and everyone was very complimentary and enthusiastic about the films they saw. It was important to me to mark the occasion of the beginning of the life of Good Dyke Porn. It was one year ago when work began on recruiting interested models, filming the scenes, creating the website, raising money, and developing the whole thing into what it is now. Which, is still very much in the beginning stages. |

1. Tell People You’re a Pornographer. It was the end of summer. Labour Day had come and gone along with so many parties and fun beautiful women. Time to get down to work. I’d been talking about making real dyke porn for a while, so I made a page on the website explaining that I was looking for models and crew and created a profile on Superdyke.com - the lesbian online hangout for queer women in Vancouver. Within hours I had nearly 10 women who were interested in performing. I was jumping out of my skin with excitement.
One of the women who messaged me was Geneva. She sent me some photos of herself and we set up a coffee date to talk more. My first impression was, “Are you fucking kidding me?” She looked hot. Meanwhile I was also messaged by Alex Craven who said she was interested in performing for a porn scene. I arranged for all of us to meet and before long Geneva and Alex Craven committed to shooting a scene for me. Perfect. |

The Premiere Screening of "Good Dyke Porn" on Saturday at Vancouver Queer Film Festival was a resounding success. The theatre was packed - a sold out show. I felt so loved and supported by my community. Everybody giggled at all the right places, shifted uncomfortably during the hot moments and clapped really loud at the end. |

Close up of what? Indeed. Tonight is the Premiere Screening of the film festival film "Good Dyke Porn". I'm nervous. I'm excited. I'm thrilled to be bringing my work to the big screen and sharing it with my community. This has been a year in the making and now my dream has come true. I feel like this is the beginning of a wonderful expansion of the queer porn genre. I am so proud to be a part of it. Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to making this a reality. The brave, beautiful, creative souls both in front of the camera and behind. This is just the beginning. |
